Plasma Exchange & VV ECMO

Today, Jahmya will undergo a plasma exchange — a process done through the kidney machine to help cleanse her blood. This treatment is being done while she remains on VV ECMO (veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), which supports her lungs by providing oxygen and removing carbon dioxide while her body heals.
One of the recent concerns is that her urine has become extremely dark. This can sometimes happen when a patient has received a large number of blood and platelet transfusions, as Jahmya has. These lifesaving infusions help her stay stable, but they can also place stress on her kidneys and affect urine color.

The care team is watching her closely and taking every step to support her organs and give her the best chance at healing. Plasma exchange is an important part of that — helping to clear out harmful substances and inflammation from her bloodstream.
This journey is incredibly difficult, but Jahmya is resilient. She continues to show strength with every breath.
Please keep her in your hearts, your thoughts, and your prayers.
