Even This Won’t Consume Me: A UniqMom’s Grief and God’s Faithfulness

There’s no manual for losing a child. No words strong enough, no breath long enough, to describe what it does to a mother’s soul.

When I buried my daughter, a piece of me left with her. Every day since has been a quiet war in my mind. There are moments when the weight of it all feels like it should have swallowed me whole.

Moments I can barely breathe or function.

Moments when grief becomes so loud it drowns out everything else.

But Then, Morning Comes

And yet, I wake up.

I rise.

I move, even dragging,

because He meets me there.

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for him.’

📖Lamentations 3:22–24 (NIV)

This verse is more than scripture to me. It is the OXYGEN Jahmya once used. A reminder that no matter how deep the pain goes, His love goes deeper.

Grief may bend me, but it does not break me. Sorrow may visit, but it will not consume me. Because His mercy greets me each morning, even when I don’t feel ready to face the day.

My daughter was a UniqWarrior, living with complex medical needs, the most significant being Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). She fought battles many never saw, with grace and strength beyond her years. Her transition didn’t just change my life, it reshaped my IMPACT!

If you’re a grieving parent, or someone walking through an unimaginable season, please hear me:

You don’t have to be okay today.

You don’t have to stay strong for everyone.

But you do have a portion in the Lord.

And He will not fail you,

not even in this.

So I will wait for Him.

Even when it hurts,

even when I don’t understand,

because I know He is the only reason I’m still standing at all.
